A funeral for Ernest D. "Ernie" Fanning, 71, a Gardnerville resident, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Fish Springs Volunteer Fire Department in Gardnerville. The family requests that those attending wear casual Western dress.
Mr. Fanning died Dec. 31, 2006. He was born April 5, 1935, in Missouri.
He enjoyed the outdoors, ranch work, writing poetry, and spending time with his friends.
Among his survivors are his wife, Kay Fanning; sister, Florence Adkins of Arizona; son, Mitchell Fanning; daughter, Danell Fanning; stepchildren Ray Carter, Barbara Smith, Robert Carter and Butch Duncan; one grandson; and several extended-family members.
Memorial donations may be made to the Ernest Fanning Memorial Fund, Kathleen Fanning, trustee, Bank of America account no. 501001676783.
FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
