Burlington Coat Factory to move into old Wal-Mart building

Print Comment
Burlington Coat Factory is expected to occupy the old Wal-Mart building on

South Carson Street.

The retailer is expected to start operating late February and hold a grand

opening in March in a 70,000 square foot space, according to Joe McCarthy,

the city’s redevelopment manager.

They’ve signed a letter of intent, an agreement to begin contract or lease

negotiations and have agreed on some points of the contract, such as rent

and square footage.

The building was owned by Max Baer Jr., who wanted to use it as a site for

a Beverly Hillbillies casino. He sold it in May to Carson Southgate LLC and

intends to set up a casino in North Douglas County.
