Carson City

(Staff reports) - The Carson City Sheriff's Department will be stepping up patrols for drunken drivers to include a DUN checkpoint on Saturday.

Beginning Monday through Sept. 9 deputies will be working overtime looking for drunk drivers, said Deputy Jarred Adams.

Adams said that the Carson City Sheriff's Department will be also be conducting a DUN checkpoint on Saturday from 6 p.m.-11 p.m. in the area of 2601 E. Fifth St. for eastbound traffic.

"It has been determined that high visibility of traffic enforcement is one of the best ways to ensure compliance with driving under the influence of alcohol laws," Adams said.

Funding for the overtime used in this campaign has been provided by the Joining Forces grant, administered by the Nevada Office Of Traffic Safety, Department of Public Safety.

Any questions regarding this event can be directed to Sgt. Mike Culler at 887-2020 ex. 3171 or Adams at 887-2020 ex. 5314.
