Capital City volleyball team wins title

The Capital City Volleyball Club's 14 Black team captured the championship of the 33-team Northern California Volleyball Association's Spring Classic this past weekend in Santa Clara, Calif.

Comprised of eighth graders from throughout Northern Nevada, the team went undefeated in the tournament without dropping a single game along the way. Team members include Elena Charles, Sarah Lushina, and Kristalei Wolfe (Carson City); Heidi Schefcik, Hailey Sclafani, and Savannah Wood (Minden); Gabi Newman and Megan Schmauder (Reno); and Megan Mize and Darby Reeder (Zephyr Cove).

The Club's 18 Red team took fourth in its Division, while the 15 Black team finished eighth and the 16 Red team to13th out of 80 teams in its division.
