Construction on the 8.5 mile I-580 freeway project continues Friday as crews, using a 500-foot-long conveyor, move dirt to backfill over the temporary arch over Galena Creek. The contractor will have to move 4 million cubic-yards of dirt to aid in the construction of the 700-foot arches in the middle of the 1,725-foot-long bridge. The project is expected to be completed in 2011.
