Governor should make a change of residence

After reading the article (Nevada Appeal, 4-29-08) regarding the legal question of the governor living in his home in Reno, I wonder why this is an issue. The actual issue is why is the governor’s wife residing in the governor’s mansion?

Gov. Gibbons was elected to do a job for the people of Nevada; he may have the option of living in the mansion or not but I can say with complete confidence that no one, past or present, intended for the governor’s wife to reside in the mansion. After all, it’s not called the governor’s wife’s mansion, now is it? Nor was she elected to conduct state business for the people. The governor’s separation has nothing to do with the mansion or the state’s business.

If Mr. Gibbons had quietly asked Mrs. Gibbons to take the Reno home, this whole thing would have gone unnoticed!

As a legal voter of the state of Nevada I demand a proper change of residence, please join me and either call the governor’s office or write to the newspaper of your choice!

After this issue is cleared up, I wonder if the governor can explain why the mansion uses three-quarters-of-a-million dollars to “maintain” the mansion in a time when the entire state needs are being cut back on? I’m guessing you could cut that down substantially. How about a cut of 40 percent and then you can donate that to the education budget.

No more dynasties in the White House

Do we really want another “Dynasty” in the White House? Look where the Bush dynasty got us after 12 years. In reality Senator Hillary Clinton is running primarily on name recognition. Do we need four or 16 more years of same. Her husband, the former President, was a disgrace to the oval office. He was also a compulsive liar. Do we want more of the same in the White House?

McCain makes the most sense on health care

The Clintons say, “...if you can’t stand the heat...” Yeah, yada, yada, yada. But their daughter, Chelsea, told an audience questioner, when asked about Monica that it was none of the questioner’s business. Wrong! If it’s in such bad taste, child of misfortune, then why an impeachment exercise for Daddy Bill ... Oh, yeah, those darn old Republicans.

Thanks, Mr. Clinton, for leading the nation’s morals toward the gutter, or was it all simply for a greater understanding of the word “fellatio”? But the Democrat mud-slinging is an end-around, a way to avoid addressing the issues by saying that Rev. Wright is relevant while the dynamics of the healthcare issues is brushed aside as needing change (no kidding) or stating that the war in Iraq can be solved by a catastrophic pull-out ... I’m sorry, Mr. Obama, you seem to be an exceptional fellow, but while on the high ground you seek to follow, and your constant “When I’m President ...” statement, folks are suffering an ocean of grief while you and Hillary say, in effect ... well, wait six months ... then (maybe) we’ll address the issues.

I have a solution. President John McCain.
As to HealthCare, I learned the hard way that Carson City’s medical profession and facilities are well-stocked with able, caring professionals, and I fear that high-minded politicians will further clog their system. I have a little story, if you will. I was in the waiting room of Sierra Surgery when a young couple came in, she in a wheelchair and looking quite ill, he, a working man without much visible wealth. And I watched as he tended her, and the staff offered smiles and friendship as they went by, and I grasped the meaning of HealthCare in the incredible love which I sensed was emanating from that couple and the caring staff.

McCain, I believe, will address HealthCare from that perspective ... the two Democrats are as yet too busy to be bothered ... illness and disease does not, after all, play well in their present carnival atmosphere. But wait six months?!
