120 years ago
Yesterday morning the news reached this city that the Emerald had blown up at Lake Tahoe. The Emerald was a fast little steamer placed on the lake last year by Yerington, Bliss & Co., and was designed for the local business about the lake. No lives were lost, and the Meteor went at once to the rescue and towed the hull ashore.
100 years ago
A large congregation assembled at St. Peter's Church to greet the Rt. Rev. Henry D. Robinson, the Bishop of Nevada. It was the Bishop's initial visit to Carson City, having being consecrated for this diocese.
70 years ago
Goldfield High School students were prepared to walk out from classes today unless their principal, H.M. Morse, is replaced, reports the Tonopah Times. Students claim they are in danger.
50 years ago
Mrs. Isle Bair was the featured speaker at the Lions Club Monday. She showed a number of slides of ancient ruins in Mexico where she recently spent a prolonged vacation.
20 years ago
Nurses were honored as part of National Nurses Day.
