USPS 'Stamp Out Hunger' Saturday

The National Association of Letter Carriers in conjunction with the United States Postal Service will help Stamp Out Hunger, Saturday, May 10. To help Stamp Out Hunger! leave a sturdy bag containing non-perishable foods, such as canned soup, canned vegetables, pasta, rice or cereal next to your mailbox. Food items should be in non-breakable containers. Do not include items that have expired or are in glass containers. Local letter carriers will collect donations and deliver them to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. Big Brothers, Sisters needed at schools

Adults and high school students can make a difference in the life of a child by donating one hour per week of time. Washoe accepting lifeguard applications

Washoe County's Department of Regional Parks and Open Space is hiring certified lifeguards for the Sun Valley and Bowers Mansion pools. The County will offer a Recertification Course at the end of May for any lifeguard whose certification has expired or is expected to expire during the 2008 summer season.
