Aircraft is coming from Chico to help fire crews battle a 40-plus-acre wildland fire burning at the end of Como Road in southwest Dayton.

Central Lyon County Fire Chief John Gillenwater said the fire was sparked by an excavator working in the area.

Janet Lochman of Dayton sent the accompanying photo of the smoke as seen from her yard in the Brookhaven subdivision.
