Joyce Barfuss, age 71, died unexpectedly Sunday, May 4, 2008 in Bountiful, Utah. More concerned for the well-being of others than her own health issues, her loving, generous heart ceased working.
Born July 5, 1936 in Salt Lake City, Utah to John Henry and Gertrude Boehme Barfuss. She graduated from South High School and earned accounting certification from Western Nevada Community College. She was an Accountant and Payroll Technician for the State of Nevada, retiring in 1998. She was always of service to others, even as an Organ Donor at her death. She lovingly she cared for her father his last five years.
After surviving a devastating bout with cancer, she moved to Bountiful in 2005 to her dream condo to be surrounded by friends and loved ones. Guests were always welcome in her clean, warm, organized home. She was active in the LDS Church, serving where called and needed, financially supporting many missionaries. She was always knitting special items to give away, she recognized special events for others. Joyce enjoyed family, friends, reunions, the Eagles, her motorcycle, movies, a wide variety of music, baskets, and her devoted police dog "Prince".
She is survived by brothers Gerald H. (Mary) Barfuss and Michael J. (Gloria) Barfuss of Bountiful, Utah and many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family extends a heartfelt "Thank You" to the dedicated efforts of the Emergency Medical Services personnel of South Davis Metro Fire Agency and Lakeview Hospital Emergency Department, and to caring friends and neighbors.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, at the Bountiful 43rd Ward, 990 North 100 West, with a viewing from 9:00-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be at Salt Lake City Cemetery, 7th Avenue entrance. Online guest book at www.russonmortuary.com. <http://www.russonmortuary.com./>
