SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — Authorities say drugs or alcohol may be factor in the death of a woman found floating in Lake Tahoe last week.

South Lake Tahoe police say they are treating the death of Deyana Loranca as suspicious until autopsy and toxicology tests are completed, but add that her death appears to be accidental.

Investigators said a 911 call was made at 3:09 a.m. Friday when a neighbor reported that a female was being dragged into a residence.

When police arrived Loranca’s boyfriend, Jose Zavala, 18, had a confrontation with officers and was arrested for being under the influence and resisting arrest, police said

While police were attempting to contain Zavala, Loranca screamed and fled the scene without clothes.

Loranca, 18, was discovered floating in Lake Tahoe about an hour later, police said.
