Bodines has town in for party

The new casino Bodines, name proudly displayed out front, threw a party Tuesday afternoon.

Mayor Marv Teixeira was there and he wielded the scissors to cut the celebratory ribbon, with the help of state Rep. Bonnie Parnell, Miss Carson City Julianna Erdesz, Supervisor Pete Livermore and others. The ribbon was neatly cut and mayor paused to say, "Cutting this ribbon was the most important one I've cut as mayor.

"Bodines continues the local tradition of service with a local person, Rick Murdock, involved."

Parnell said, "This is a family event for Carson City by people who have always provided quality service."

Livermore, who was on the Parks and Recreation Commission and helped the owners receive the go-ahead, including the million dollars Bodines contributed to the building of parking space for Fuji Park, said, "This is a great invitation to the people of Carson City and tourists. It will be a wonderful place to enjoy quality time."

The crowd of about 200 enjoyed special appetizers and beverages while a four-piece combo saluted them. Wait persons scurried about with trays of special snacks, including barbecued beef on a bun and special shrimp dishes.

Inside the casino gamers who were more interested in play than ribbons continued to push buttons and spin wheels.
