Discovery Communications wants audiences seeing green 24/7.
Starting Wednesday, Planet Green, a new digital and satellite cable channel available on most systems, will offer environmentally themed programming around the clock, including a series on a town thats being rebuilt to eco-friendly specifications, as well as cooking, celebrity and entertainment programs.
The new channel replaces Discovery Home.
The network expects viewers from among boomers who look at longevity or legacy issues; first-time parents who want to do what is earth-friendly for their children; and college-age 20-somethings who have grown up in an environmentally conscious atmosphere, said Eileen ONeil, president and general manager of the new venture.
