The Carson City Chamber of Commerce has new officers and directors for the 2008 fiscal year.

The officers are: Chairman Phillip Harrison of Taiyo America, First Vice Chairman Jim Smolenski of FitzHenry's Funeral Home, Second Vice Chairman Scott Dockery of Charter Communications, Secretary/Treasurer Court Cardinal of Casino Fandango and Past Chairman Robert Crowell of Kummer Kaempfer Bonner Renshaw and Ferrario.

The directors are: Jed Block of State Agent & Transfer, Cheri Glockner of Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center, Ken Hamilton of Hamilton Business Machines, Stan Jones of the Purple Avocado, Peter Kostes of the Nevada Appeal, Kyle Holt of Basalite, John Procaccini of the Brewery Arts Center, Lisa Stirgus of Wells Fargo Bank and Jeff Woodward of Carson Jeep Nissan.



Carson Plaza, an independent living retirement community managed by Holiday Retirement, is welcoming a new management team of Jim and Carolyn White.



D&D Roofing got five more school jobs worth $1.4 million. These include Mt. Rose Elementary, Verdi Elementary, McQueen High School, Elmcrest Elementary and Peavine Elementary.

In the 31 years it has been in business D & D has done more than 50 different school roofs.



F&P Construction of Reno has purchased 13.89 acres at the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center from Lance Gilman of L. Lance Gilman Commercial Real Estate Services, the exclusive broker for the industrial complex. The sale price was $906,286.



Squaw Valley's Pinnacle Real Estate recently joined with Chase International, a Lake Tahoe real estate company, taking on a new look and stepping up client services.

The Squaw Valley office (located at the base of the mountain) will now operate under the name and brand of Chase International, increasing Chase's total number of Reno-Tahoe offices to eight.



Home Depot opened at 3185 Market St. on Wednesday. The new store will bring more than 150 new jobs to the community and approximately $350K in sales tax to the city each year, according to the company.

The store features the retailer's latest floor plan, with newly redesigned departments including kitchen and bath showrooms and an expanded lighting department only found in newer stores, a special home décor section, color solutions center, installation services, professional contractor desk, tool rental and outdoor garden center.

It presented $1,000 to the Boys & Girls Club of Western Nevada and $1,000 to Ron Wood Family Resource Center on Wednesday.
