Cooler weather for area

Today’s weather will be partly cloudy then sunny in the afternoon. Highs 83-93 with southwest winds 10-15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight, clear in the evening then becoming partly cloudy with lows 49-59 with west winds 15-20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph decreasing to around 10 mph after midnight.

Tuesday, partly cloudy with highs 79-89 with southwest winds up to 10 mph increasing to 10-15 mph in the afternoon.



Road work continues in Carson City with areas of delays, mainly Fairview Drive between Roop Street and South Lompa Lane, primarily between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., and Highway 50 East between Airport Road and Saliman Road.

On Highway 50 traffic controls are in effect during all hours of the day with lane variations.

The closure of westbound Fairview Drive from Saliman Road to Roop Street is in effect through Aug. 31. Alternate routes of travel are Colorado Street to the south, and Little Lane to the north.

Traffic will be controlled at times; alternate routes are advised.

The Nevada Department of Transportation reports at 6:28 a.m. all roads open with no controls.
