Found. Ð In the bar of the Ormsby House a small gold locket containing photographs. Call and prove property and take it away. A little skirmish on Sunday, in front of Rail's, between a manhole and a buck, resulted in scoring one for the former.

Much speculation has been indulged lately as to the origin of the name Winnemucca. It is said the first white man to visit the site of Humboldt's capitol came upon a band of savages playing pedro on the exact spot where the courthouse is today. He said "how" and inquired what luck. One old chap who was raking in the wampum with a grin said, "Win um mucha." Hence the name. Luckily for us it wasn't the other old chief who was losing, because the name would have been, "Losamucca." Or so says the Elko Argonaut.

For the first time in Nevada political history, Nevadans see a state candidate in a talking picture when Harley A. Harmon's films are shown in Nevada theaters. The pictures are introduced with a fanfare; similar to newsreel fanfare with a picture of Nevada and the slogan "One Sound State" is thrown on the screen. Harmon then discusses his programs.

Nevada Day plans include a big square dance at the junior high school gymnasium as part of festivities. A special group of local grammar school square dancers will take part in the event.

Carson City Jaycees helped raise more than $8,000 for "Jerry's Kids" during the Jerry Lewis telethon for Muscular Dystrophy. Capitol Jaycees project chairperson was Arlene Macho, who was also club president.

Carson City races for sheriff, supervisor, school board and Republican Assembly seat helped draw 38.8 percent of registered voters to the polls in Tuesday's primary election.
