Charlie Williams, 74, of Carson City, died peacefully at his home after a long struggle with cancer.

He was born in Bynumville, Mo. to John Morris and Minnie Ruth Williams. His youth was spent in the farming communities of Prairie Hill and Salisbury, Mo. After graduation from the University of Missouri at Columbia, Charlie accepted a commission in the United States Air Force. He served our country as a pilot, retiring in 1977 to live in Merced, Calif.

He spent much of his retirement in his shop – woodworking, welding and repairing the impossible for friends and family. After moving to Carson City in 1996, he took up flying, again. He thoroughly enjoyed and embraced the digital age of computing and all its aviation applications.

He is survived by his wife, Debra Stahl Williams, two nephews and a niece, in-laws and extended family.

A celebration of his friendship will be held in Carson City at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Hospice of Northern Nevada, 18653 Wedge Parkway, Reno, NV 89511, or to the American Cancer Society P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
