RENO — Gottschalks department store, the last standing fixture of the old Park Lane Mall in Reno, will close next week as the property owner continues with plans for a new complex.
Most of the mall that stood for 40 years has already been demolished.
Officials at California-based Gottschalks Inc. say the company is working to move the store to a new location.
It will close at its current location on Dec. 27, and demolition is scheduled early next year.
The mall property on South Virginia Street is owned by San Francisco-based Merlone Geier Partners.
Officials there say the economic recession has slowed development but work on site plans continues for a new retail complex.
