Obituary: Donald Edward Coonse Jr

February 16, 1948 — September 1, 2009

Born and raised in Alturas, Calif., Donald Edward Coonse Jr. went to Modoc High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1972; Sgt E5, Nike Hercules Nuclear Missiles. Shortly after an honorable discharge, he moved to Dallas, Texas. In 1997, he and his wife relocated to Carson City.

“Dutch” was a truck driver and master mechanic. He loved his 1948 Harley, fly fishing, a cold beer and a good laugh with his many, many friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Donald Edward Coonse Sr. of Alturas, Calif.; his little sister, Suzanne Marie Miller of Alturas; and his son, Kenneth Edward Coonse of Montana.

He is loved and missed by his mother, Katherine Coonse of Alturas; his wife, Patty Coonse of Carson City; his daughter Stacey Alicia Hall of Maine. His brother and sister-in-law, Dave and Judy Coonse, of Redding, Calif.; brother Robert Miller of Alturas; his grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10 at the Federated Church in Alturas.

A memorial celebration will be held in Carson City at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12 at his home at 2294 Columbia Way.
