A Carson City man shot once in the leg this morning on Bunch Way has been treated and released from the hospital, according to police.

The 45-year-old man told investigators he heard a knock at his door just after 8 a.m., and when he opened it, a woman he knew was standing there with a weapon pointed at his stomach, said Lt. Ken Sandage.

Sandage said the man described pushing the gun down just as the woman fired a shot at him.

The bullet passed through the flesh on the man's inner right thigh.

Sandage said officers located the suspect, but she has roommates who claim she hadn't left her Reno home all morning.

Officers contacted her by phone within 15 minutes of the shooting and in person at her home an hour after the shooting, said Sandage.

The investigation continues.
