O'Keefe wins regional title

Brady O'Keefe, an eighth-grader at Eagle Valley, took first place in freestyle and second in Greco-Roman at the Western Junior Regional & Cadet tournament in Arizona last week.

O'Keefe compiled a 9-1 record with eight pins. He competed in the 126-pound division. He is a member of the Team Nevada North.

The tourney is one of many leading to the national championships in North Dakota in July.

Fall sports meeting for CHS parents

The Carson High athletic office will be have an informational meeting at 6 a.m. May 21 in the Morse Burley Gymnasium for all parents and athletes interested in the upcoming sports season.

Topics to be discussed will be eligibility requirements, concussion testing and recovery, injury reporting, and social networking/hazing. Sports packet information will be available.

Baseball boosters set for annual meeting

The Carson Baseball Boosters Club, Inc. will hold its annual meeting on May 14 at 7 p.m. at Round Table Pizza, 3325 Retail Drive, Carson City, NV.

Election of new officers of CBBCI will take place at that time.

Bike winners from AltaAlpina race

Kevin Willits, Jamie Buck, Michael Shipman, David Reilly and Cole Pinther were group winners at the recent AltaAlpina race.

Willits won Group A followed by Pike Reaedom and Paul Tindal. Buck won Group B, while Alex Kuhlmer and Andrew Huntington were second and third, respectively. Shipman won Group C with Frank Dixon second and Jamie Borino third. Reilly was the Group D winner followed by David Paizadysz and James Sadilek.

Pinther won the junior race followed by Eric Jacobs and Jimmy Harris.

Correlli wins 4-ball at Thunder Canyon

Rick Correlli finished with a 65 to win the Thunder Canyon's Men's Club 4-ball stroke play tournament on May 4.

Jeff Gusow and Steve Sear were second at 67 as were the teams of Larry Greenman and Mike Bennert, Bill Gibson and Paul Ricciardi, and Rob Jennings-Teat and Steve Rydel.

Mary Anderson finished with a 70 to win the women's event.

Joyce Powell and Ellen Ewing and Kathy Archer and Theresa Beggs tied for second at 71.

Foley wins flight at Silver Oak

Michael Foley carded a net 65 to win Flight A of the Monthly Masters event at Silver Oak Golf Club.

Chuck Spencer and Jason Cooper tied for second at 67, while William Kapczynski was fourth at 68.

Baughman and Rich Torok shot 65s to tie for the B Flight crown. Luther Best was third with a 70, while Mike Gaynor was fourth with a 71.

Zogorski shoots 60 to lead Empire seniors

Tom Zogorski shot a net 60 to win the A Flight at the weekly Empire Ranch Senior Men's Club event.

Bob Lewis and Geoff Swan tied for second with 63s. Jack Eldredge and Jim and tied for first in the B Flight with 63s. Steve Scharfe had a 64. The C Flight title went to Marshall McCurdy who had a 60. Phil Polaske was second with a 63. Hans Ehrlin won the D Flight with a 65, while Cleve Dalen was second with a 67 and Paul Lockwood was third with a 69.
