John Hayes Glenn 94, of Carson City, passed away on Wednesday.
John was born to the late Henry Richardson and Mary Edna Glenn, December 30, 1917, in El Cajon, CA.
John was an Eagle Scout, graduated from Grossmont High School in 1936, and spent several years working in the oil fields of Southern California. He married his late and beloved Phoebe in 1946 and lived in the Los Angeles area before moving to Carson City, NV in 1960. John was a World War II Naval Aviation Veteran and a long-time member of the Kiwanis Club.
John retired from Hughes Aircraft Company and was the last surviving flight crew member of the famous, one-and-only 1947 flight of the 'Spruce Goose'.
John is survived by four children: Suzanne Glenn Wallace of Dayton, NV, Michael A. Glenn of Oak Harbor, WA, Patrick Henry Glenn of Gardnerville, NV, and Martha Lee Gill of Ashland, OH. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at the East Side Memorial Park Cemetery in Minden at 10:30 on Sunday, June 24th.
