Body found in search for missing doctor

Searchers hunting for missing Carson City doctor Gary Dankworth found the body of a man late Wednesday night during their search, confirmed a spokeswoman for the Inyo County Sheriff's Department.

Public Information Officer Carma Roper said the body was found in the Sequoia and Kings National Park area of the Sierra and has not been officially identified.

Dankworth, 60, failed to return to camp from a hike to summit Norman Clyde Peak above Big Pine on Saturday, and was due out the following morning.

Rescue crews began searching around 1:20 p.m. Sunday for the man described as an experienced backcountry hiker and continued through Wednesday evening.
