COMMUNITY SPORTS: WildCats grab third title of summer schedule

The WildCats won the Nevada Softball Association 18U A division championship over the weekend in Sparks.

The WildCats beat Nevada Neon, 17-2, in their opening game and then blanked the Reno Blackjacks, 8-0, in the championship game.

Lauren Knorzer and Rebecca McConnell contributed home runs in the victory over the Reno Blackjacks. The WildCats' pitching was just as impressive, allowing only two runs and six hits all day. Cara McCarthy the winning pitcher in the opener, allowing no runs and no hits before being relieved by Jennifer Quam. Ivette Garcia won the title game by pitching a 4-hitter.
