Orioles lose 3-2 to Athletics

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - The last thing Buck Showalter wants to be at this stage of the season is "Captain Obvious," as he puts it.

No need for team meetings or telling his players what they have to do in mid-September.

Joe Saunders allowed a two-run homer to Oakland's Yoenis Cespedes, and the AL wild card-leading Athletics beat Baltimore 3-2 on Friday night to prevent the Orioles from moving into sole possession of first place in the AL East.

"It's very obvious to our players what is at stake," Showalter said.
