Carson City receives Race to the Top grant

The Carson City School District is one of 16 to receive the nationally competitive Race to the Top grant, and will receive up to $10 million over the next four years, the U.S Department of Education announced Tuesday.“It's a proud moment for the Carson City School District,” said Susan Keema, associate superintendent. “It's a proud moment for Carson City, the staff, parents, everybody who worked on this. We didn't do it alone. It was a community effort.” Race to the Top, which launched in 2009, offered $400 million directly to school districts this year to support locally developed plans. The …
