He was born to the late Bob and Geraldine Maynor, Aug. 28, 1946 in Albuquerque, N. M. Gale grew up in Long Beach, Calif., graduated from Millikan High School in 1964, and received an AA from Long Beach City College in 1966. He completed a four-year apprenticeship and became a journeyman electrician. Gale married Judy Crowell Oct. 28, 1972 in Gardnerville, Nev. and they lived in Southern California before relocating to Northern Nevada.

Gale got his start as an electrician working as a stage lighting technician where he worked on shows ranging from Dean Martin to the Price is Right. He enjoyed working with clients and making friends with the wide variety of people his job led him to meet; he retired in 2010.

In 2010, he was named Firefighter of the Year for East Fork Fire and Paramedic District. He was a passionate advocate for the importance of volunteers in wildland firefighting, and served as a mentor to many young people who went on to be engaged in the life of our community.

For over 25 years he was deeply involved with USA Swimming and High School Swimming in Northern Nevada and California, giving freely of his time and talents to make sure that the kids always had a good experience.

His spiritual life was nourished by Christ Presbyterian Church in Minden where he served as a church elder and headed the building and grounds committee, and could often be found at the church doing all manner of odd jobs.

Gale was always willing to give his time and expertise to a worthy cause, and his contributions to the Carson Valley community will be fondly remembered by all whose lives were touched.
