Douglas stand-off ends peacefully

A Johnson Lane woman surrendered peacefully after a nearly five-hour stand-off in the northern Carson Valley neighborhood on Monday.

The woman was taken into custody at about 6 p.m. after crisis negotiators responded to an address on Squires Street at about 1:16 p.m.

Douglas County deputies responded to a report of an armed woman with suicidal tendencies standing in the yard of the home. As they arrived she entered the home's garage and locked the door.

Other occupants of the home were evacuated, along with neighbors before members of the Douglas County Sheriff's Crisis Negotiation Team arrived to talk her …
