BRIC purchase documents proceed

The Carson City Board of Supervisors passed items paving the way for financing the purchase of the downtown office building known as the city's Business Resource Innovation Center.

They voted to do so, however, only after a discussion prompted when Supervisor Jim Shirk wanted to make certain payments for the Redevelopment Authority using the structure would continue.

City supervisors decided earlier to buy the building just northeast of City Hall. The city is doing so because it has a better bond rating and so interest will be cheaper than through the Redevelopment Authority, but money will come from the authority …
