130 years agoOpposition is already beginning against Sen. John Dennis' bill to compel county commissioners to advertise expenditures. The opposition is made under the usual mark of economy. It is claimed this advertising will drag vast sums of money from the treasury and into the coffers of the newspapers. The object is to allow taxpayers to see each month where the money goes so John Doe can't slip a bill for $16 a cord of wood instead of $8.
