130 years agoThe bill to pay Professor Friend $300 for his services to furnish meteorological reports is a modest one and as just as ever. At the rate of $12 per month he has worked hard. Recently a resolution was adopted by the Senate that the clock of the chamber be regulated by Friend's time, which is corrected daily by astrological observations. It seems an insult that a man should work so hard for the State with his own instruments and be snubbed by the Senate.
