The Carson City Symphony will perform “Legends, Fairy Tales, and Dances” at 4 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Carson City Community Center’s Bob Boldrick Theater, 851 E. William St.Guest soloist Eric Fassbender will perform the Concerto for Bassoon and Orchestra by Nino Rota. Symphony musician Yumiko Anthenien will feature on English horn in “The Swan of Tuonela.” The orchestra will perform Gioachino Rossini’s “La Cenerentola” Overture and three Slavonic Dances by Antonin Dvorak.Tickets are $15 are for general admission; $12 for seniors, students and Symphony Association members; and free for ages 16 and under. They can be purchased at Play Your Own Music in the Carson Mall, at CCSymphony.com or at the door. Pre-show entertainment featuring symphony flutes and clarinets will begin at 3 p.m. in the lobby. The audience also is invited to a free concert preview in the Sierra Room at 3:15 p.m. Conductor David Bugli will include discussions with the soloists about the music, composers and instruments.
