Assemblyman Brooks needs to be monitored
Regarding Brooks trying to buy a rifle at Scheels, this guy is a nut job. The Legislature is scared of him, domestic violence, under psychiatric evaluation and do you really think this guy wants to go hunting? Hunting for what? The signs are there and who is paying attention to them? Someone should be monitoring this guy very closely.
Nevada's term limits should apply federally
Thank you Sen. Reid for your opinion on term limits, your stance is very predictable. As a career politician, why would you consider any change to this good old boy system (speaking on the federal system). Our state system works just fine and should be a model for you and your lifers in D.C. Your statement that we have a method of term limits that is the voting booth is an insult.
Everyone is aware of the tremendous advantage that the incumbent possesses in an election. Currently, in my opinion obviously, our federal elected representatives are more concerned with maintaining their job than doing what is best for the country. They vote party line so as to stay in favor come election day. Enact term limits and their concern should sway to doing what is right. Perhaps this would actually be a relief to some of our more idealistic statesmen.
The limit of two, four-year terms in Congress and Senate and one, six-year term as president is my suggestion.
Stop condemning, stop judging and be merciful
This is in response to the many letters of Ms. Mary Santomauro.
To quote Luke 6:36-38, "Be merciful, just as your father is merciful. Stop judging and you will not be judged. Stop condemning and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven. Give and gifts will be given to you. A good measure packed together, shaken down and overflowing, will be poured into your lap. For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you."
Others hit harder than whiny state employees
This letter is in response to state worker Reese Rigsby's letter on Feb. 17.
State workers keep crying about cuts and have no idea what real cuts are like. People in the "trades" are the ones really hurting! Try going from $60,000 per year to $35,000, with no insurance, no paid vacation or sick leave, using your own vehicle, paying for your own gas and tools.
As for the whining about furlough days, try not having any work for 4 to 15 days in one month. I would buy you a box of tissue to dry you tears, but sorry, I can't afford it.
A lot of tradesmen and small businesses are hurting and battling to keep their heads above water.
Quit crying and be thankful you have a job at all! That's what they tell me.
Let's be like Ike, finish road extension swiftly
According to a recent newscast, the state has "found" the money to complete the freeway from Fairview to Route 50. Can anyone explain how you "find" millions of dollars? I'd like to "find" some for myself!
In the 50s, President Eisenhower built a national interstate highway system in four years. Can anyone explain why it's going to take five years to finish the final two miles?
On second thought, if you have the answers don't tell me. I wouldn't understand anyway!
