Senate bill would fine teens for smoking

If it’s against the law for Nevada youth to buy cigarettes, it should also be a crime for them to use it, a state senator said Thursday in presenting a bill to make it illegal for anyone under 18 to use tobacco.Sen. James Settelmeyer, R-Minden, said gatherings of teens on “smokers’ corners” near school campuses are testament to the fact that just banning the purchase of tobacco isn’t enough to deter the habit.
