The woman accused of having sex with her student pleaded not guilty Tuesday to the charges.
Christine Johnson, 28, was arrested May 13 on suspicion of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Johnson was a history teacher at private boarding school Squaw Valley Academy and accused of engaging in a sexual relationship with an underage male student at the school.
Alongside attorney Fred Maier at the Placer County Superior Court room in Tahoe City, Johnson blocked her face from view during the arraignment where she was presented with one felony charge of sex with a minor and two misdemeanor counts of providing alcohol to a minor.
Superior Court Commissioner Trilla Bahrke issued a protective order; Johnson is prohibited from contacting the victim, whose identity is protected because he is a minor and the possible victim of a sex crime.
Johnson’s preliminary hearing has not been scheduled, but a settlement conference date was set for July 23 at 10 a.m.
