Ventana Sierra of Carson City, a charitable organization that helps young people, was among 11 Jackpot Grant recipients identified Tuesday. The nonprofit was awarded $843 out of the $9,796 being awarded for fiscal year 2012’s fourth quarter by the Nevada Arts Council under the grants program. The money is for Ventana Sierra to conduct an advanced writers’ workshop at Western Nevada College to help build literacy and critical-thinking skills among teens and adults.
