With deep sadness we share with you the loss of our beloved sister, Robin Ann Hodgkin, 54. Robin passed away early in the morning of March 17, 2013. She was born in Denver, Colorado.
Robin graduated from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO in 1981. During her university years she became passionate about the arts and dedicated herself to a career serving community arts programs.
She first worked at The Lincoln Center in Fort Collins. Then moved to Arcata, CA to work at Humboldt State University. Her career took her to San Francisco and the San Francisco Opera Center and later to the Grace Cathedral.
Venturing into the “for profit” world for a time, Robin worked for Sun Microsystems. Finding herself unexpectedly unemployed, she returned to the “not for profit” world and the Nevada Arts Council.
Since 2002 Robin has served constituents across Nevada as its Community Arts Development Program Coordinator of the Nevada Arts Council. In 2008, Robin was honored by receiving the Western Arts Alliance Darlene Neel Award for mentorship.
During Robin’s career of 30+ years, she made an untold number of friends in the Arts Community across the country. She will be sorely missed for many years to come.
In addition to her passion for The Arts, Robin was passionate about the outdoors, a love of skiing and hiking the Lake Tahoe area and traveling near & far.
If you wish to contribute to a legacy, a gift of a park bench dedication &/or the gift of a piece of artwork to the permanent collection of the Nevada Museum of Art in Reno, please send a check payable to The Robin Hodgkin Memorial Fund c/o Rabobank N.A., 2276 Broad Street, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401, Attn: A.J. Hodgkin.
Robin is survived by her brother, A.J. Hodgkin of San Luis Obispo, CA and her sister, Judy Unrein of Bellevue, NE.
There will be a Celebration of Robin’s life on Saturday, April 20, 2013 from 2:30 to 4:40 p.m. at The Bliss Mansion, 608 Elizabeth Street, Carson City.
