State jobless rate up slightly from February to March

While still a full 2 percent lower than a year ago, Nevada’s unemployment rate ticked up 0.1 percent in March compared with February, finishing at 9.7 percent. That is the seasonally adjusted rate. The raw rate — the number listed for all individual reporting areas in the state — was flat at 9.8 percent. The Las Vegas area’s rate remained 9.8 percent in March. In Reno-Sparks and Carson City, the numbers dipped 0.1 percent to 10 percent and 10.6 percent, respectively.
