Reception Saturday to feature two artists

The Carson Valley Arts Council will host an artists reception for Carolyn Denning and Cheyenne McAfee from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Carson Valley Arts Council Gallery, 1572 Highway 395 in Minden.

Carolyn Denning graduated from Scripps College with an art major and went on to earn a masters of art education from Claremont Graduate School. She is the president of the Carson Valley Artist Association and a member of gadZooks in Gardnerville.

Cheyenne McAfee is primarily a self-taught artist. She has commissioned work for the Defenders of Wildlife, which was included in the top 100 paintings for the national Arts for the Parks Show. She has won first place and best of show awards at juried art shows in Carson City and Minden.

The reception is free and open to the public and includes complimentary wine and snacks. The artists will have their works available for sale. The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The mixed media exhibit will be on display through July 3.
