Carson City Sheriff's Log: Man arrested on felony theft warrant


Carson City

The following people were booked into the Carson City Jail. All suspects are innocent until proved guilty in court:

SUNDAY

• 4:49 p.m.: Tyler Adam Borland, 31, of Silver Springs was arrested on Arrowhead Drive on a felony theft warrant. Bail was set at $10,000.

• 6:10 p.m.: A 48-year-old Carson City woman was arrested in the 1000 block of East Fifth Street on suspicion of domestic battery. Bail was set at $3,000.

• 8:28 a.m.: A 61-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 2000 block of North Carson Street on two contempt-of-court warrants out of Carson City. Bail was set at $1,985.

• 6:17 p.m.: Leticia Shante Chavez, 25, of Carson City was arrested at Park and Fall streets on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia, as well as on two failure-to-appear warrants out of Reno. Total bail was set at $5,952.

• 4:17 p.m.: A 19-year-old Carson City woman was arrested in the 4200 block of Pheasant Drive on suspicion of first-degree domestic battery. Bail was set at $3,000.

SATURDAY

• 12:42 a.m.: A 46-year-old transient was arrested in the 500 block of North Carson Street on suspicion of possession of a prescription drug without a prescription, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. According to the man’s arrest report, a deputy was dispatched to a casino on a report of a man carrying a backpack containing drug paraphernalia. The man left the backpack, and security retrieved it. A deputy reportedly found methocarbamol, a muscle relaxer. The man reportedly said the pills belonged to a friend, and admitted he’d smoked methamphetamine a couple of days earlier. The deputy reportedly found marijuana in the man’s pocket. Total bail was set at $4,100.

• 4:02 p.m.: Ronald Waddell Jr., 56, of Palm Desert, Calif., was arrested at Park and Roop streets on suspicion of DUI-second offense, disobeying a traffic-control device and right-turn violation. According to Waddell’s arrest report, a deputy saw him fail to stop at a stop sign, pulled him over and smelled a strong odor of alcohol. Waddell reportedly failed field sobriety tests, then took a breath test that revealed his blood-alcohol level was above 0.08 percent. Total bail was set at $2,580.

• 10:45 a.m.: A 30-year-old Carson City woman was arrested in the 3200 block of East Nye Street on two violation-of-pretrial-condition warrants out of Carson City. Total bail was set at $6,000.

• 12:51 a.m.: Anthony Allec, 37, of Carson City was arrested at Valley View and South Edmonds drives on suspicion of driving with license suspended/revoked, speeding 11-15 mph over the limit, no proof of insurance and DUI-first offense. According to Allec’s arrest report, a deputy saw him going 47 mph in a 25 mph zone. He was taken to the Carson City Jail and reportedly refused to take part in a field sobriety test, then took a breath test showing his blood-alcohol level was above 0.08 percent. Also arrested was his 26-year-old Carson City passenger, on suspicion of obstructing and open container. According to the woman’s arrest report, she smelled strongly of alcohol and refused several times to roll down her window, then said she couldn’t afford a cab ride home. A deputy reportedly told her he was taking her to jail, where she would remain until she became sober, and she refused to exit the vehicle. She reportedly had a blood-alcohol level of 0.32 percent at the Carson City Jail.

• 9:31 p.m.: A 35-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 1800 block of East Long Street on suspicion of obstructing and resisting an officer, intimidating an officer and convicted person failure to register. According to the man’s arrest report, a deputy was dispatched to the location on a report of a fight. He reportedly was told not to light his cigarette and did so anyway, asking what the deputy was going to do about it. The deputy pointed a Taser at him, then detained him. The deputy learned that the man had 20 felony convictions, and that he’d moved to town a month ago and hadn’t registered as a convicted felon. Total bail was set at $4,250.

FRIDAY

• 6:42 p.m.: Angel Jose Benavidez, 21, a transient, was arrested at Stewart and Park streets on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance, as well as on a failure-to-appear warrant out of Carson City. According to Benavidez’s arrest report, deputies approached him and two other people, and one of his companions ran away. Benavidez reportedly reached into his waistband, and a deputy ordered him to the ground at gunpoint. A deputy saw something blue fall to the ground; it reportedly contained a substance that later tested positive as being methamphetamine. Total bail was set at $3,000.

• 7:20 p.m.: A 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 1100 block of East William Street on suspicion of violation of bail conditions, possession of drug paraphernalia and basic speeding. According to the man’s arrest report, a deputy saw him going 35 mph in a 25 mph zone, then learned he was on an alternative-sentencing agreement barring him from using drugs or alcohol. The deputy reportedly smelled marijuana, and a drug-detecting dog led him to marijuana in the car. Total bail was set at $4,045.

• 9:36 p.m.: A 38-year-old transient was arrested at South Carson Street and Overland Drive on suspicion of driving on a suspended license and no license plate light, as well as on a failure-to-appear/traffic warrant out of Esmeralda County. According to the man’s arrest report, a deputy went to the area on a report of a man driving recklessly. Total bail was set at $1,170.

• 9 p.m.: A 25-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 100 block of College Parkway on a contempt-of-court warrant out of Carson City. Bail was set at $175.

• Noon: A 19-year-old Carson City woman was arrested in the 1400 block of North Carson Street on a violation-of-pretrial-conditions warrant out of Carson City. Bail was set at $3,000.

• 6:13 p.m.: A 27-year-old Reno man was arrested in the 3300 block of South Carson Street on a contempt-of-court warrant out of Reno, as well as on suspicion of no valid driver’s license, no insurance and expired registration. Total bail was set at $1,505.

THURSDAY

• 6:04 p.m.: A 25-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 1300 block of La Loma Drive on suspicion of driving with a suspended license and obstructed driver’s view, as well as on a failure-to-appear warrant out of Carson City and a contempt-of-court warrant out of Dayton. According to the man’s arrest report, a deputy saw him driving with a large obstruction “affixed in ornamental fashion” from the rear window. Total bail was set at $1,020.
