USAF Golden West Winds to perform free concert

The Carson City Chamber of Commerce is bringing the USAF Golden West Winds to the Jazz & Beyond Musical Festival.

The West Winds, a division of the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West, will perform at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16 in the backyard of the Governor’s Mansion.

The Chamber is co-sponsoring “Music for a Summer Day” with the Carson City Elks and Emblem Club to allow residents to enjoy a relaxing evening of summer music. The musical lineup will include a bit of everything from tango, film themes, country and, of course, patriotic tunes.

Attendees are to bring blankets or folding chair for seating and are welcome to bring their own snacks, although the Emblem Club will be offering suitable evening snacks for sale along with wine and beer.

The Golden West Winds are based at Travis Air Force Base and the quintet is comprised of flute, oboe, clarinet, French horn, and bassoon.

Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Concert begins at 6:30 p.m. Come early for best seating.
