Carson City Library will close on Friday, August 29th, for a day of Library Staff Training and Development. The library will reopen on Saturday, August 30th, at 10 a.m.
On Friday, August 29th, library staff will participate in a variety of management-planned customer service training and development sessions. “Customer service is an integral part of the operations at the Carson City Library, we want to put our best foot forward and provide excellent customer service to the community, training staff will help us do this.” Director Sena Loyd.
Customer service improves when a community member (the customer) experiences an excellent visit to the Carson City Library, either by walking through the front door, placing a telephone call to the library, visiting the library’s website, or receiving a text or email from the library. A positive experience will result in solving a problem or satisfying a need.
The Carson City Library’s five-year strategic plan, Level Up(!), indicates “The Carson City Library will facilitate connection”, as Strategic Goal #2. By facilitating connection through programming, library staff will learn “excellent customer service practices with emphasis on soliciting patron feedback to assess customer satisfaction” as outlined in the strategic plan. In addition, objectives will be met in support of “staffing to inspire connection”. Objective #1 states “Recruit, train, retain, and re-train library staff that recognizes their role in excellent customer service to the community” and Objective #2 will “Provide professional development for all staff to become highly trained customer service experts and themselves lifelong learners.”
The Carson City Library will reopen to the public on Saturday, August 30th, at 10 a.m.
