Proposed budget includes more than $200 million in uncommitted money

More than $200 million in general fund money has not yet formally committed in the proposed budget. That’s the good news for some Nevada lawmakers. The bad news: Gov. Brian Sandoval has spelled out where he wants most of that money spent, and Republicans in the Assembly and Senate have made it clear they are backing him. The biggest piece of that pie is the $74 million and change the money committees removed from the K-12 education per-student base budget over the biennium because it didn’t belong in the base.
