Obituary: Jeffrey Scott

Nov. 26, 1953 - June 22, 2013

“All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players: They have their exits and their entrances; and one man in his time plays many parts.”

There was no one who played more parts in his lifetime than Jeffrey Scott.

Act 1: Jeffrey was born in Baltimore, MD on November 26, 1953. His passion for the arts began at an early age as a musician.

Act 2: Jeffrey’s life changed when he met his soul mate, Carol, at a fair in 1978 while he was painting faces and she was selling flowers. Sharing a gypsy spirit, they moved to CA with their daughter, Tara. They were married in the Santa Cruz mountains, and their family grew with the birth of their daughter, Sierra. He started his first business, Scott Electric Co. He also became an avid rock climber. Their peripatetic life took them to Maine, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Black Rock City (with a brief intermission in Canada), before returning home to Carson City. For the past 17 years Jeffrey has been a Process Engineer for Sylvan America, the world’s largest producer of mushroom spawn (no, not that kind of mushroom).

Act 3: Jeffrey found his true passion in the theater as one of the founders of Wild Horse Productions. He was a director, actor, lighting/set designer and tech director, as well as a mentor to the youth in the community. He was integral in building the arts community as Chair of the Carson City Arts & Culture Coalition.

Jeffrey was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2010 and took his final bow on June 22 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, Carol; his daughters and son-in-laws, Tara and Don Burke, Sierra Scott and Nick Aliberti, Kelly Jesup; and grandsons, Hunter and Phoenix Burke; father, Robert Scott, and a large extended family on the East Coast. To honor his legacy, the family requests you make donations to Wild Horse Productions at www.wildhorsetheater.com or WHP, 3955 Golden Eagle Ln, Carson City, NV 89701.

The show must go on!
