Minor injuries reported in plane crash

A single-engine plane crashed several hundred yards from the Fallon Municipal Airport on Wednesday, according to Churchill County Sheriff Ben Trotter.

The Beech Bonanza A36, four-seat aircraft was carrying a full load and went down at about 4:45 a.m. near the intersection of Indian Lakes Road and Enterprise Way, Trotter said. Four people were aboard including pilot Dan Urquhart and were transported to Banner Churchill Community Hospital and treated for minor injuries.

“It was a soft landing,” Trotter said.

The plane was on its way to Dixie Valley, Trotter added. The Churchill County Sheriff’s Office is on scene and waiting for officials from the National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration to arrive.

The federal agencies will conduct an investigation into the cause of the crash.
