Train museum cancels trains
Out of an abundance of caution, the trains will not run at the Nevada State Museum for Labor Day weekend due to unhealthful air quality.

The Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada, 813 N. Carson St., will sponsor Street Vibrations kids trike obstacle course and bicycle show and shine Sept. 28.
The race will be at 9 a.m.; the bicycle show and shine judging will be at 11 a.m. and the awards ceremony will be at 5 p.m. The race is open to children ages 7-12.
Entry costs $5 per child. Registration will be at 6 p.m. Sept. 27.

Events are set at Fort Churchill State Historic Park
A night hike will be at 8 p.m. Sept. 7 and a full moon hike will be at 7 p.m. Sept. 19 at Fort Churchill State Historic Park. Participants are asked to bring water, appropriate shoes, warm clothes and insect repellent. Dogs will not be permitted. Reservations are required.
Kim Copel will perform in a Pony Express chautauqua event at 1 p.m. Sept. 28 at Buckland Station.
Entry to the park is $7 per vehicle with a $2 discount for Nevada residents, and the programs are included in the park’s entrance fee. Entry to Buckland Station is $1 per person; children 12 and younger are admitted free. Cash and checks are accepted.
