With days remaining in the 2013 Nevada Legislature, control of Senate was up in the air when Democratic Joyce Woodhouse flew home to Henderson to be with her ill husband.
Woodhouse’s departure Friday night leaves the upper chamber with a 10-10 partisan split.
Under Senate rules, Republican Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki can only cast a tie-breaking vote on procedural matters, not final passage of a bill.
Bills that end in a tied vote fail.
Lawmakers are scrambling to process and finalize budget bills. The Legislature must adjourn by midnight Monday.
