Two dispensaries in Carson City receive provisional licenses from state

State health officials Monday issued provisional licenses to a laundry list of applicants for dispensaries, cultivators and producers of edible marijuana products.

The list included two dispensaries in Carson City.

The list also includes seven cultivators issued provisional licensing in Carson City and four producers of marijuana products — edibles.

But only one dispensary licensee and two cultivators and two producers of edible agreed to have their identities released at this point.

Nevada Organix LLC was approved as meeting state standards as a dispensary, producer and a cultivator in the capital. BioNeva was approved as a cultivator and producer.

The other dispensary candidate, five potential cultivators and two producers of edibles declined to have their identities revealed under confidentiality provisions included in the state law authorizing medical marijuana providers to operate in Nevada.

Under that law, each county was allowed a specific number of dispensaries. But no limits were set on cultivators or providers of edible marijuana products.

But to actually open for business, all those applicants must now get local approval that have control over zoning, business licensing and other issues. In Carson City, that means approval by the Board of Supervisors.

State officials have made it clear they don't intend to force any county or city to officially license any of the facilities.
