Area accidents keep NHP busy

One person was injured in a single vehicle rollover Wednesday night 12 miles west of Fallon on the Reno Highway.
The Nevada Highway Patrol said Bruce Reed, 66, of Fallon was pulling a small utility trailer with his Toyota pickup when he drifted off the southern portion of U.S. Highway 50.
Reed, who was eastbound, tried to overcorrect his steering, said Sgt. Dave Cox of the NHP's Fallon District office. Consequently, Cox said the vehicle and trailer began to rotate prior to rolling over.
"During the rollover, the trailer disconnected from the Toyota," Cox said. "The Toyota eventually came to rest on its top as the trailer continued to travel toward the median where it struck an NDOT (Nevada Department of Transportation) road marker."
He said the trailer finally came to a rest after striking the median cable barrier.
Reed was not injured, but Cox said paramedics from Banner Churchill Community Hospital took the passenger, Nancy Reed, 65, to the medical facility where she was treated and released.
Firefighters from the Fallon Churchill Fire Department also responded in case they were needed.
Traffic was stopped for about 30 minutes. Cox said the Toyota and trailer were both towed to Fallon.
Earlier in the week, two motorcyclists were injured at Cold Springs near the NDOT maintenance yard when one motorcycle hit the other from behind.
The accident occurred Tuesday morning about 62 miles east of Fallon on U.S. Highway 50. Cox said Daniel Rash, 58, of Dayton rear-ended a motorcycle being driven by Larry Anderson, 64, of Silver Springs. When Anderson slowed down to make a turn, Cox said Rash failed to slow down. The collision ejected both motorcyclists.
Cox said CareFlight transported Rash, who incurred serious injuries, to Renown Medical Center in Reno, while BCCH paramedics took Anderson to Fallon.
According to Cox, the NHP cited Rash for speed too fast for conditions.
