Fallon man killed in 2-car collision

A Fallon man was killed when his vehicle collided with a hay trailer early Tuesday morning, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Justin M. Edgemon, 36, was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering fatal injuries. The driver of the hay trailer, Theodore L. Guazzini, 56, was not injured.

Guazzini was driving a John Deere 6140D farm tractor pulling a hay trailer.

According to a NHP press release, Edgemon’s blue Ford Focus was travelling eastbound on U.S. Highway 50 when he hit the rear of the trailer at about 5:57 a.m. four miles east of Fallon. The NHP release said Edgemon did not slow down when he approached Guazzini.

The collision is under investigation by the NHP and it is not known whether alcohol was a factor.

Both lanes were closed for several hours while troopers completed their on-scene investigation.

Trooper Chris Kelly of the NHP’s Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating. Witnesses or anyone with additional information can reach him at (775) 689-4661 or ckelly@dps.state.nv.us regarding case number NHP-140300811.
